What are honeyberries?

Honeyberries are a delightful treat that you'll love to enjoy! These sweet and nutritious berries are a type of honeysuckle native to the Northern hemispheres of North America, Asia, and Europe. They are harvested in late spring to early summer. Their flavour tends to be unique, tart yet sweet, soft and juicy. You’ll know they’re ready to pick when the inner layer turns a rich purple or blue, even if the outer layer looks ripe earlier.

Nutritious and delicious

Honeyberries are known for their ability to boost the immune system due to high antioxidant content. Among superfruits like blackberry, mulberry, purple grapes, and maqui berry, honeyberry consistently produces the most anthocyanins. These compounds, derived from the natural pigments in blue- and red-tinted fruits, have been linked to numerous health benefits, including improved eye health, reduced inflammation in conditions such as gingivitis and rheumatoid arthritis, prevention of colon cancer cell growth, and enhanced cardiovascular health. In addition to its antioxidant properties, honeyberry is also rich in fiber and vitamin C.
